A surprising number of Iranians both inside and outside Iran seem to think so, according to comments left ln social media.

A quick glance at the track record of Islamic regime , shows that  Indeed there are good reasons behind this  somehow surprising line of thinking…..

Islamist regime has a long history of staging  “ terrorist attacks” inside Iran in order to blame /discredit the opposition and justify crackdown,  and gain some political leverage in international arena. Examples: Cinema Rex fire tragedy during the revolution, explosions at prime minister office in Tehran in early post Revolution days. Explosions  at Imam Reza Shrine in city of Mash_had ….. The list goes on. These terror attacks  were all eventually tracked to Islamic regime itself.

In this  case, an “ISIS attack” in Tehran, high on the heels of recent ISIS attacks in Europe could well serve the Islamic regime, portraying it as a “Victim of Terrorism”, just at the time US senate is looking into imposing sanctions on Islamic regime for its support of International terrorism…

I guess we can never say with 100% certainty that the Islamic regime was indeed fully behind this attack. But that was also the case in 1933 when the Reichstag was burnt down by Nazis, in order to blame their arch enemies, the “communists”. An event which heralded the ascent of Adolf Hitler and Fascism to power in Germany and eventual death of millions of human beings in ensuing WW II.

Iranian people are very rightfor remembering the lessons of history……
