The sun is dying inside me
And my soul detests my skin.
Where is my India?
The land of timeless flowers

Reveals the old wisdom
And the tropical rain

خورشید در من رو به تباهی ست
و روح من از پوست من بیزاری می جوید.
هندوستان من کجاست؟
سرزمین گلهای بی زمان
جایی که طوطی سبز
کلامِ کهن را بازمی گوید، و باران گرم
هر اندوهی را با خود می شوید.

همسفران! از هر سو گرد آیید
بادبانها را برافرازید
و سینه ی اقیانوس را بشکافید.
هوا آفتابی ست
و دلفین های خوش یمن در زیر آب
دم های خود را تکان می دهند.
سن سباستیان دِلا گومرا!
سن سباستیان دِلا گومرا!*
برخیزيد تا لنگر برداریم
و از این اطلس کهنه فراتر رویم
باشد که این بار
هندوستانِ خود را بازیابیم.
