Horrible and biased documentary
The director Calling it "decandence" is all the more a hypocrite given that he is the son of a former minister under the Shah ...
Don't spit on the hand that fed you !
Oh and Khosddel no need to give up on your former name "Razi" ...
Your style and commentary betrays your flunctuating identity you know ...
It doesn't have to mean anything to you, but I do say that you are my favorite adversary. You're fun and honorably clean. I also respect your unconditional love for our late king. But, look... it says " The End" on the screen... the movie is over... curtain is down... it's the time to go back to reality... Don't miss the bus, my dear ham-meehan...
Too long of a documentary and a lot of it is “tekrar mokararat” . We can argue pro/cons of this event but this had nothing to do with disaster of 1979. Not a day or year goes by where some country somewhere spends ton of money on some events from Olympique , World cups , F1 racing and various festivals and sport events ,the list goes and on and on and yet we never hear the usual folks whining about any of them.
Somehow it was ok for Brazil and South Africa to spent billions on World Cup and Olympique even though both societies have an astonishing poverty, violence and a distribution of wealth problem but for Iran to spend money on an event honoring 2500 years of its legacy it’s a no no! The hypocrisy specially the ones coming from libs and leftists are astonishing.
Just a short takmezraab on MRX's comment, avoiding a long back-and-forth debate over something long gone... in Olympics, soccer thing, festivals, etc. local people are visible, counted in, active and involved... while this event was exclusively foreign...Money was not the whole issue for the opposition...
Do you fellows remember Stockhausen who performed in jashn-e honar-e shiraaz?
Well like I said Khoshdel there can be healthy debate about this event ( of course not here or in BBC persian service!)
The point I am trying to make is this event had nothing to do with 1979 fiasco. I also disagree, the biggest issue that leftists and their cousine islamists always whine about is the cost which they have exajurated to an extreme level. I find it ironic that the people who complain about this at 2017 for an event in early 70's, do not seem to have any issues about the astronomical costs of world cups and olympiques and tons of other events that goes on year by year that is all. Seen the cost for Qatar World cups, its mind buggeling! (Why can't they spend it on fellow Palestenians or poor egyptians instead)
I am not a believer in Monday night quarter backing, but knowing what we know now that how traditional and some what backward our society was and is, perhaps it wasn't such a good idea.
