About Maliheh Zafarnezhad: I was born in north-eastern Iran in 1981, in Sabzevar, and studied in Mashhad city where I inhabited for nine years before moving to Europe. I was graduated, with a B.Sc. in Geology, from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM). Since the earliest days of my study, I became acquainted with professional art activities at FUM, the place which inspired me for music and painting. I continued as a part-time student in several art colleges and communities, along with my full-time studies as a geologist. My main topic initially made me a landscape painter. This resulted in numerous solo- and group-exhibitions. From landscape to figurative/portrait painting, from pencil and pastel to ink, watercolour, acrylic, oil and currently towards the application of mixed media, fabric and other materials, I struggle to express my personal interpretation of the objects. I have just finished my master of art in History of Art and Architecture, and my thesis on “Sourcing the Historical Lineage of the Seventeenth Century paintings at Chihil Sutun in Iran: A Gendered Analysis”, which significantly improved my knowledge about Iranian art. At the moment I am working as a volunteer in Occupy Space Gallery in Limerick, Ireland. I am also a member Ormston House Gallery >>>
