In Memory of Holocaust Victims
Some times I see Helen
Passing by
Wearing a long skirt.
She pushes a metal walker
Scraping against the ground.
She always asks:
"Sir!
What day is today?
What day is today?"
I say: "Jeudi"
And sometimes: "Donnerstag"
Because I know
Helen had fled Germany
And married in Paris.
She passes by me
Like a heavy train of victims
And I hear their voices
Out of the reach of time.

هلن
مجید نفیسی
بیاد قربانیان کشتار یهودیان
گاهی هلن را میبینم
که با دامنِ بلندش
از راه میرسد.
راهبَری آهنین را هُل میدهد*
که بر زمین شیار میکِشد.
همیشه میپرسد:
"آقا!
امروز چند شنبه است؟
امروز چند شنبه است؟"
میگویم: "ژودی"
و گاهی "دونر استاک"*
زیرا میدانم هلن
از آلمان گریخته
و در پاریس شوهر کرده.
او چون قطارِ سنگینِ قربانیان
از کنارم میگذرد
و من در فراسوی زمان
صدایشان را میشنوم.
شانزدهم فوریه هزارونهصدونودوهفت
*- "راهبر" بهجای "واکِر".
*- "پنجشنبه" به فرانسوی و آلمانی.
